A cleaner way to screenshot in Chrome.

Capture a whole page, a dragged region, or one element with its background peeled away. No account, and nothing leaves your browser.

Peel’s toolbar popup open over a web page, offering Viewport, Full Page, Region, Responsive, and Element capture.

Five ways to capture

Click the banana in your toolbar, or skip the click with a shortcut.

Element picker

Point, then adjust.

Hover to highlight, click to select. The slider walks out to the parent container or in to a child, so you land on the exact box, shadows included.

Something in the way? Hide a legend, a badge or a cookie banner before you capture, without touching the page.

Transparent backgrounds

Backgrounds, peeled off.

Element captures come out with real transparency, soft shadows and glows intact. Peel shoots the element twice, on black and on white, and works out the alpha of every pixel.

Drop the result straight into a slide, a doc or a design file.

Full page

The whole page, stitched cleanly.

Peel scrolls for you, waits for lazy images, and hides sticky headers so they don’t repeat down the image. Pages wider than your window are captured sideways too.

Change your mind halfway? Stop, and keep everything captured so far.

Responsive

Desktop, tablet, and phone in one click.

Peel captures the page as it is, then narrows the tab to tablet and phone widths and captures those too. The three land side by side in one image, on a transparent background.

It’s the same tab the whole time, so pages behind a login come out the way you see them. Save the set as one image or as three files, and set your own tablet and phone widths.

Beautify

Ready to post.

Frame any capture on a gradient with padding, rounded corners and a soft shadow. Crop it, then copy it or save it as PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF.

Small things, done right

Private by design.

  • No account

Install it and capture. There is nothing to sign up for.

  • Nothing uploaded

Captures stay in your browser. Peel keeps your last five and clears the rest.

  • No access until you ask

Peel can’t read a page until you click it or press a shortcut, and loses access when the tab navigates away.

Questions

Is Peel free?

Yes. No trial, no watermark, no account.

Where do my screenshots go?

Nowhere. They are stored locally in your browser so the preview tab can show them, and the oldest are removed as you take new ones. Downloads go to your normal downloads folder.

Why doesn’t Peel ask to read every website?

Peel uses Chrome’s active tab permission instead. It gets access to one tab at the moment you invoke it, and nothing else.

Can it capture pages I’m signed in to?

Yes. Peel captures the page as it looks in your tab, so dashboards and anything behind a login work the same as any other page.

Which browsers does it work in?

Peel is built for Chrome. Browsers that install extensions from the Chrome Web Store can usually run it too.

Try it on this page.

Install Peel, press ⌃⇧4, and point at anything.
